Sweet & Sassy Strawberries

For years, even decades strawberries has been known to have huge health benefits for the skin. Strawberries contain a salicyclic acid to get rid of dead skin cells therefore, helping to fight and eliminate free radicals that attack the skin. Because strawberries contains a good amount of antioxidants, strawberries should be incorporated your diet as much as possible. I LOVE strawberries and actually decided to start a business after attending the strawberry fest in Oxnard in 2007. I was so inspired by the other vendors and their crafts in soap, that I too wanted to do the same. This year, it's returning and if you live in or near Los Angeles County, I'd advise you to attend and bring the entire family! It's super FUN! Listed below are a few of my favorite Strawberry Recipes. Try them all!!!!

Strawberry Mask

Strawberies have astringent qualities which tighten and tone your skin.

Mash the strawberries in a small bowl. Apply to your face as directed in the basic mask instructions and leave on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off.

Strawberry Teeth Whitener

Are you wanting clean and white teeth? Try this:

3-6 strawberries
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup water

To make:
In a blender puree the berries
Pour the fruit in a small custard size dish.

To use:
With your toothbrush or cosmetic brush, paint a paste of the berries onto your teeth. Let sit on your teeth for 5 minutes.
Add teaspoon of the baking soda and the cream of tartar to the cup of water.
Swish the soda water around in your mouth
Brush your teeth with 1 teaspoon plain baking soda
Rinse with cool, clear water.

Friday afternoon, I decided to take my kids on a field-trip to teach them the value of money. Because, I have so many empty plastic bottles from the ingredients used to make products for Scentsational Soaps, both my son and daughter wanted to recycle them. That's not to mention the many soda cans that has been collected by my father-in-law that he donates to the kids on a monthly basis. We loaded up the van with all of the recycled items and also brought along a bank that the kids use to save coins, etc. This would definitely be a trip that would teach them the benefits of saving. I was just as eagered as the kids to see just how much was in the bank. The kids both agreed that the money would be split amongst the two of them for their own personal use. I prayed that this trip would allow them not to ask mommy or daddy for aany money in the days ahead.....yeah RIGHT!!!!! When becoming a parent, you are a parent for LIFE!!! However, teaaching them the value of money early will allow them to become more responsible. We went to a local store and deposited all of the change in a Coinstar machine.

Yes, I know, this service is not free, there is a fee, but it sure beats wrapping up the coins in rolls! The kids thought that this was fun. Just pour the coins in a watch the screen display the amount as it counts each coin. As you can see, they walked away with $50.14.......Were they excited? Most definitely! The entire way to the next stop; The Recycling Center, they discussed how they were going to spend it, etc.

We arrived to the next stop. This definitely was not my cup of tea. Everything was grimmy, dirty, and smelled. My son did his job like a man as my daughter and I looked on. Of course, she was there to help sign the receipt to get paid....LOL!!! They had made another $10.07. They were HOT stuff now! $60.21!!!!!! That meant they would get $30 each. They were too excited & I was excited too because, now they could see the concept of saving. Now, they can't wait to go back to get more.

Save that loose change that you have on your dresser and watch it grow. It will definitely come in handy for a number of things such as gas, lunch, etc.

Don't Eat Your Heart Out!!!!!!!

Hello there! How is everyone coming along with their New Years resolutions? I never make any resolutions as I always fail. However, this year, I wanted to try something a little different. I told my family that eating junk food was out the door. Would this be considered making a New Year resolution? I think it's a lifestyle change. It just sounds better and makes it a bit more permanent. Well, whatever it is, may it be a mental play on words or not, I have been in the kitchen cooking. Of course, I'm always cooking and dishing up wonderful bath & body products for the skin www.scentsationalsoaps.com but this called for me to create wonderful, light and healthy meals for the body; internally. I absolutely LOVE cooking but found it so not convenient while running a business, along with a husband and two kids. This is NOT TRUE. As with anything, you have got to plan. AND, I'm responsible for what the family eats. With that said I've been browsing a couple of cookbooks and making smoothies for the kids. They love them. I tossed in a few blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, bananas, soy milk and agave nectar in the smoothie listed below and it was absolutely delicious!

Thanks to The Cookbook Called "Everyday Food" from the Kitchens of Martha Stewart, that same day I came across a wonderful looking recipe called "Asian Style Chicken Soup" that was low in calories and very flavorful.

It had ginger, cilanatro, basil leaves, tomatoes, chicken breast, jalapenos and vermicelli noodles in it. I'll be making this again, with only 301 calories per serving. It was a HIT for the family and also a healthy alternative to fast food. I continued to get excited throughout the week and continued on with my healthy cooking streek and made a tasty and comforting butternut squash soap. It was definitely something new that was introduced to the family but has always been a favorite of mine.

What I noticed as I cooked and ate each meal and / or snack, the food is not only better for our bodies but also has the same great flavor. Make healthy choices this year and watch some unwanted body fat begin to fall off. Furthermore, start introducing your kids to those healthy choices as this will make them strong and healthy as they grow.

With the New Year here upon us, many have vowed to do better, be better and look better. Some of us have promised to work out more consistantly, loose weight and even take better care of ourselves. The Great Get-Away!

2011 was an interesting year. A year of learning more about myself and those around me. With high expectations for others, I had to learn to accept people for who they are. Though, this issue had to do with others, I too had to shine the light on me. In August of 2011, I found myself depressed for the very first time. Yes, ME, Ms. Positive; always encouraging others, etc. I laid in my bed dormant and not wanting to do anything; not even shop (my favorite thing to do). I cried, I slept, I did nothing. It was a moment of self reflection and a time to listen in order to move forward. No one knew my pain, not even my husband. I felt inadequate, nervous, unsure and crippled. I felt that I was not doing enough within my business as well as my personal life. It was time to MOVE!!!!!

Since that experience, my life has changed. As mentioned in a prior post, I had to take time for ME. With that said, this past weekend, I took out time with my family. We headed to Rancho Cucamonga with my husband, mom, kids and nephew. We had a blast!!! We stayed at the Hilton, ate, went shopping at Ontario Mills Mall, went to the movies, ate, hung out, ate...O, yes did I say ate or EAT!!!! Lastly, to top it off, we went to my uncles home for dinner on Sunday before heading back home. I truly believe that I picked up 15lbs. on this trip alone. This year, I promised myself that I would do more things for me & explore. Small getaways recharges your body & cost very little when planned right. Name some weekend getaways that recharges your body.

When was the last time that you taken time out for you? Do you give yourself 15 minutes a day, just for you? In the course of the year 2011, I found myself NOT doing that as much as I would like. Yes, I go places and have fun with my husband, family and friends, but for the most part, it's all work related. I promised myself, that I will do things differently and go to places that I've never been before in 2012. The picture above is a spot in Rancho Palos Verdes. It's absolutely beautiful there. One day, I was driving back from an event and decided to pull over on the side and close my eyes and inhale and exhale for a moment while there. I wanted to take in everything that was there in my possession and acknowledge it. I also began to think about things that I wanted and things that I needed to rid myself of. It was a peaceful moment. It's these moments that you will learn more about yourself while releasing stress from the body. With all the hustle and bustle with life, it's important to take time out for YOU. Run along the beaches in the sand, take your shoes off and let your toes feel the grass, listen to the birds chirp, take long baths while using Scentsational Soaps Products. It will do the body good! Being an entrepreneur has both it's high & low points. There are times when you feel overwhelmed and then there are days that you are ecstatic about your business! This is not only true for entrpreneurs but for everyone for that matter. Life is a beautiful gift that has been given to us all but in order to master our LIFE, it's essential to revive our minds. Going to the beach to watch the sunset, enjoying time alone reading a good book, or just pure rest is the best way to clear the mind. The plight of the Woman!

Whoever said it was easy to be a woman certainly was NOT a woman. Everything about US is complex and beautiful at the same time. From the sway of our hips, to the swag in our walk, to the way we multi-task with our careers, raising kids, taking care of extended family members, to loving and nurturing our significant others. In all of our complexities, we are truly Amazing. Let us not forget that.

Today, I attended a luncheon fundraiser for the Jenesse project; which is a 30-year old non-profit organization that provides shelter, educational programs and counseling services for women and children who have been victimized by domestic abuse. As I sat there enjoying the food, the drinks, Jamie Fox charming the pants off of many of us with his song, dance and comedy routine, I realized, as far as we've come as women, we still have soo much farther to go. As long as WE have other women and ourselves fighting for our right to live our fullest life; I believe we'll arrive during my life time.

We, women, still have to learn to love ourselves more, protect ourselves, honor ourselves and put ourselves first more times than not. We, as women, must chose with caution and specificity. After all, who's life is it anyway. I want for women to start to love themselves on an everyday basis. I want for my sistahs to start to appreciate and accept the thing about them that is truly remarkable and unique. I also wish for us to get involved in organizations such as the Jenesse or other organizations that helps to empower women.

Happy New Year...Happy New You

This past Saturday, while preparing for my Outdoor Fitcamp, one of my clients and friends, Sarah, asked me: "Fee, where do you get the energy? "I don't know how you do it"! I'd like to say, "I don't know." But that would not be my truth. The energy comes from my Faith and my determination to NEVER have a year like I did in 2009; which means to NEVER let anything or anyone hinder or derail my happiness and success. This includes not allowing myself to hinder My mental, emotional, spiritual, physical and financial success.

Believe it or Not, I don't always want to work out. I don't always desire to drive nearly 45 to 75-minutes on certain days to train or massage a client or run my camp; however, I've made a commitment first to myself and secondly to the amazing women, men and children who show up. Is it always fun and happy times? NO, but the commitment is ALWAYS there. My intention is always clear and focused.

Speaking of commitment, I have recently decided to expand my commitment by running for the sake of others. I have fallen in love with this thing called running and it's therapeutic and meditative abilities to foster hope and change in one's life. Who knew. I mean, I ran track in high school; however, I was a sprinter. AND, I was good too. lol. But this distance running is a different beast.

I was inspired by the kindness of strangers and the power of prayer during my first L.A. marathon- March 20th, 2011. That experience inspired me to pay it forward. Beginning May 1st - I Fee King, will be running for your prayers. I've created a program
titled: Run...Heal...PRAY. When you log onto my website: www.uniquefeesiquesla.com, you'll go to the prayer wall and write out your prayer request. IT could be anything from needing a financial blessing, physical healing, to asking for the strength to deal with family, friend and love relationships. As most of you know, there IS power in prayer and power in numbers. I will then video blog my experience...what came up for me and you at the end of every prayer run day.

Like I shared with you two Sunday's ago, distance running has changed my life. Because of my profound ability to focus and pray while running, I have a new appreciation and understand our connection, as human beings, to one another due to my marathon experience. I was connected to all 27,000 persons running in front of, behind and side-by-side me. I was not only connected to, but relied heavily on the men in turbans passing out hand sliced oranges, the Asian elders handing me gatorade, the bruthas flirting with me; while I'm heaving from lung exhaustion to the young people cheering me on: "You can do it...you can do it, you're almost there." That support, along with my own praying, repeating my affirmations of: I am strong, determined, a winner, beautiful, sexy and capable., etc..etc, etc not only propelled me across that finish line; however, it's propelled a new found Determination in my life. That determination is to simply pray for the health, success and happiness of strangers.

Imagine a world where complete strangers genuinely and authentically prayed and wished your life successful.

After all, what do I have to lose? More importantly, what do we ALL have to gain? I look forward to praying for you all.

How bad do YOU want it? What r YOU willing to do for it?

This saturday, I had the great honor and privilege of speaking before a group of wonderfully courageous women who are apart of a non-profit organization called Shepherd's Door. Shepherd’s Door is a domestic Violence Resource Center, that provides a safe and secure refuge for women who are ready to put an end to the cycle of violence that has shaken and shattered their lives. Through direct rescue intervention, residential support in the transition, counseling, and resources linkage new beginnings are launched and lives are changed forever and women are made able to begin again via the outreach efforts of Shepherd's Door. The experience got me to thinkin about my own life; which further inspired me to pose some questions to you that I asked of myself:

. Are you genuinely and authentically happy with your life? With who you are?

. If you had it to do over, what would you change about your life?

. Would you marry or date you if you were You?

. Do you believe you have control of your whole life?

. If you don't...who have you relinquished control of your life to?

. Do you treat yourself kind and with respect?

. When you look in the mirror, do you like who and what looks back at you?

. Have you forgiven yourself?

. Have you forgiven those who have trespassed against you?

The take away from Saturday's event was to forgive yourself for the choices you may have made that didn't serve you. Forgive that person who you feel has wronged you. When you forgive others, it allows the Universe to not only lighten your heart, but also forgives you for wrongs you may have committed.

The second take away I derived from the luncheon was to walk in love. The more love you express, the more love you'll receive.

Lastly, move on.If we continue to live in the past, we'll continue to draw unto ourselves the same kind of people, situations and circumstances that we attracted in the past that didn't serve us.

The kindness of Strangers

Sunday, March 20th, 2011 7:25 a.m., I, Fee King, ran my first marathon. I ran this marathon in honor of my best friend, Louise Pinion, who passed in 2009 and my high school sweetheart, Michael Morgan, who passed of Leukemia in 1987. I ran this marathon to help me push through obstacles, fears and insecurities. I ran this marathon in hopes of inspiring other women to get their S.piritual H.ouse I. in order T.oday! Not tomorrow...but right now in this moment.

Along the route; which began at Dodger Stadium, there were nameless people, young, old, white, black, Asian, Spanish, Middle Eastern, there to cheer me along my journey. It's quite beautiful and emotional when you make eye contact with a complete stranger...and in that moment you connect on a level that words cannot describe. That happened for me twice. My eyes met a beautiful Asian woman and a beautiful black woman who's energy propelled me to that finish line.

I only relied on the spirit and memories of my late best friend Louise to ensure that I cross that finish line. And..without fail, she brought me home.Louise was and still is my Biggest cheerleader. I ran to let both her and Michael know that a day has not gone by that I don;'t think about them, miss them, honor and love them. My life has been improved because of the love I shared with those two individuals. How fortunate am I? Very!

IT may be hard to believe, but at mile 4, I didn't know how I would complete 26.2 miles. I was ready to Quit, but I didn't. From mile 10 to 11, I chanted(prayed) for Focus, strength and Determination. At mile 14, I was pleasantly greeted by a sign that had my name on it held by my clients: Sarah Adolphson and Robbie Weimer.WE get what we earnestly ask for and what we believe we deserve.

I am a very...VERY independent and socially introverted person; which means I know a lot of people and a lot of people know me' however, I'm alone more often than not. People refer to me as the social butterfly. I partake of various social events and activities around L.A.; however, I tend to isolate myself from people when I'm in need. I've become very prideful when it comes to sharing my fears and struggles with people; as well as allowing my ego to get in the way of asking for help. This has both served me well and enabled me at times. Running this marathon allowed me to rely upon and even ask people for help. While running, I asked the Universe to support my efforts. I chanted for strength, focus and a winning spirit. I thanked every single person who handed me water, oranges, gatorade (even though I'm opposed to it because of the high levels of acid in it), sprayed pain reliever on my legs and thighs; as well as every person who held their hand out for me to shake it. Wow! In that moment, It was confirmed to me that WE are ALL connected. Please read it again, WE are ALL connected. There were two tables at two different locations of Middle Eastern men in turbans who had cut fresh oranges for me. I had to hold it together ya'll. IT was too soon in the race for me to break down in tears. Thank you to those men for supporting me.

That break down and cry moment came 800 meters from the finish line at the corner of San Vicente and Ocean. As I turned the corner for the long stretch to the finish line, I heard someone call it, " You only have 800 meters left." I had no comprehension of how long that was, but I knew it was less than a mile. lol. I finally lifted my head up to realize I was directly across the street from the area I was standing at February 2009 and received a very obvious sign from my late best friend, Louise Pinion, that I deserved better. At that moment, February 8th, 2009, I decided to STOP doing the things I had been doing if I wanted to have a better life. Today, My life is quite wonderful.

When I say NO to You...I'm sayin YES to Me!

Whenever you allow or even come close to allowing someone else to take you outside of your true self; that person might need to either be cut completely out of your life or he/she needs to be reminded of the boundaries riot act. If you don't have a list of boundaries you live by...I encourage you to create one ASAP!

I just received a text from a male associate, that nearly set me off. It reads:

So, what you too busy to call a MF back to say hi, F-off or somethin?" I was mortified. Ya'll, this clown almost received a return text full of expletives; but then I reminded myself of who I am" A queen and a lady. I additionally, realized the Universe places people and situations along our path to test our character and our greatness. I nearly fell for the okie-doke, until I pulled myself away from the ledge.

Let me bring you up to speed with what's been happening with me. The end of 2010, I made some very specific, clear and purposeful intentions for my life. I promised myself I would let No one, mainly myself, sabotage my mental, spiritual, financial and physical Success. When I say NO to You...I'm saying YES to me.

I decided to run my first marathon in 2011; which i'm currently training for. I told this man; who isn't boyfriend or even a friend, along with a few other friends and clients, that from March 1st until the marathon, March 20th- I would be taking myself off of the radar and focusing on my spiritual and physical training; so that I can cross the finish line alive. I've only known this man for less than 6-weeks and how dare he question how busy I am.

As women, we are constantly defending our right to be independent, self-sufficient and self-preserving, need I say self-ISH. greatness makes no apologies; therefore, I don't make apologies for wanting to be, have and do the absolute BEST I can. I am an entrepreneur, a sister, friend, daughter, artist (actor/writer) and on the fastest track to success. So, when I say I'm busy - I'm BUSY. I train (run and strength train and run the Santa Monica Stairs and/or yoga for 2-4 1/2 hours every day. Not to mention running a business, shooting my reality show and working on my art, writing my blogs and making an attempt at a social life? Did I mention, I schedule naps in? I'm busy doing exactly what it is I want to do and with whom I want to do it with.

If they're NOT for US...they are Against us!

I leave you with this: When you make the decision to live your greatest life by getting your S.piritual H.ouse I. in order T.oday; know that you will be met with opposition, resistance and hateration(yes, I created that word). When you expect Support...the Universe responds in kind. Don't allow anyone, including yourself, to stop you from taking care of your health and fitness, your mind and your spirit. Don't allow anyone or anything to slow your momentum or derail your determinations.

Stay Focused and Specific Ladies!!!

Happy Monday Family. I cannot believe it's March. Where has this year gone? I don't know about you, but I have accomplished more in the 3 months of the New Year than I did in 12 months of 2010. Stay on Fire my sistahs. FYI! When I say sistahs, I mean all my ladies, okay. Needed to get that out of the way. I want my SISTAHS to Re-ignite your New Year Determinations. Re-Focus and Re-Commit to gettin your S.piritual H.ouse. I.in order T.ODAY! AND...get specific and clear about who you are. Why you're here? AND...what you want and need to do in order to be successful at your life. Meditate, fast, chant or pray on it daily.

Last Friday, I had the great pleasure of being interviewed as L.A.;'s fitness guru on Detroit's 93.7 The Beat radio station. The topic was self-esteem and how it affects African-American women and their health.IT was both an honor and an eye-opening experience; as I was able to connect via phone calls and via facebook posts to women who were willing to show their vulnerable side and admit that their self-esteem plummeted when their weight went up. This thing is real ya'll. Think about how good it makes you feel when you treat yourself to that new outfit, shoes or when you're packing your bag for that much anticipated and hard worked for vacation you saved up for and now you're finally going on it. It's a morale booster, right? We all have them and we all need them more often than not. Some of us will actually work out and diet down to lose that last 10, 15 or 20 pounds; just so we can look good on said vacation only to gain half of it back before we get back home.

Here are some of the tips and suggestions I recommended to the callers:
. Write out exactly what you wish to accomplish with your body and be specific
. Set a time-frame. Example: I want to lose 15 pounds of fat by: __________. I want to tone up and firm up my inner thighs, buttocks and triceps by: ____________. I want to fit into a size:_____________ I want to get off my cholesterol medication by: ____________

. Consult a professional who can help you stay safe and accountable to your goal

. Lastly, stop telling yourself what you cannot afford; when you're affording to get your hair and nails done once every two weeks and affording new shoes and eye lashes.

. Prioritize. When you put out into the Universe that you're worth it, the Universe responds in kind by making a way out of no way. As a personal trainer and wellness coach, I speak for not only myself; however other fitness professionals that I work with when I say the illusion of a recession has allowed us to be even more creative and flexible with our prices and programs. SO...get out of your own way, give your self-esteem a boost by taking care of the only mind, body and soul you have. Do it Today.

I'll leave you with this: this morning I met my first client at her home at 7:20 a.m. I text her to meet me outside; as our workout would be on the outside today. She was nervous, but she trusted me and went along with my program. She shared with me that she was intimidated by working outside in her neighborhood for fear of people staring. Not only were her neighbors and passerbyers staring; but they were showing her love and support by winking, smiling and giving her the thumbs up.We used things throughout her neighborhood, such as: a the firehouse brick wall for wall squats. We used a gate to support her balance for abductor/adductors (inner and outer thighs); as well as the side walk for cardio (jumping jacks, high knees, side-to-sides and walking lunges). The Universe and ALL of us in it, really do want you to succeed. More importantly, you have to want you to Succeed.

The other day, the hubby and I went to Coldstone Creamery to hang out and to purchase a shake and a small ice-cream. While there, there was so much to choose from. Both, my husband and I didn't know what to order since everything looked and sounded "yummy" to our tummy. As I sat there, I began to think of the many choices that we have in "Life" Life is full of opportunities and we can either go the "right" way or the "left" way. This is also true with our health and caring for our outer appearance. Before starting the business; Scentsational Soaps, I ate what I wanted, did not exercise, and bought products for my skin that was not natural. It was terrible, but I had to learn and educate myself on the many benefits of healthy eating, exercising, and using natural products on my skin.

Just imagine buying a brand new car and you treat it disrespectful. We need to respect our bodies and give it only the best. It's not to say that we will not get older nor experience a few aches and pains, but eating healthier, exercising and caring for our skin naturally promotes a more gratifying life both mentally and physically.

Our skin requires the necessary nutrients to be hydrated,and refreshed. Would You Give Up Whoopie Just to Be Thin?

Would you give up sex to be thin? Fitness magazine asked 2,400 women if they would sacrifice a full year of sex to be skinny - and 51% said yes. Can you believe this? Seriously? Who are these women and where can I find them? Ya'll better stop the madness. SOmetimes I think we say off the wall stuff just to get attention.

According to this article in Fitness magazine, WE women have some serious self-esteem and body issues. I concur. As a personal trainer and wellness coach, I see it, hear it, and live it everyday. Even in my own life. I woke up Sunday with expectation of embarking on a 20-mile run with a fellow trainer friend of min. Instead I opted to sleep in and allow my sore, stiff and TIRED body to rest from the approximate 18 miles I already put in that week. However, while getting dressed for a spa party, I couldn't find anything suitable to wear and I remember thinking that I felt FAT. Urggh! I said it. NOt only did I say it, but I'm admitting it in this public forum. For goodness sake, We're human and we have bad hair days. We have bad outfit days and we most certainly have BAD body image days. So, get over it and keep it movin. And I did.

I want to say I was shocked when other studies showed that, 43% of the women in the study have skipped meals regularly to lose weight, 39% have taken diet pills, and 40% went on their first diet, not only in high school, but possibly in middle school. Wow! I'm all for feeling and looking my absolute best; however, when it becomes the Center of your Focus and attention, that's not healthy. We're NOT all meant to be a size, 2, 4, 6 or even 8. AND...who wants to be?

What's your ideal body type? Who fits within that body type? Why? My ideal body type is mine. If I don't love myself and body...how can I expect anyone else to. I love my legs, my clavicle and my shoulders. I love my inner and outer strength. What about your body can you find that you truly love? Now..on the flip side, I am DEFINATELY No advocating obesity. I would lovingly encourage US to to find the happy medium between being and feeling healthy and fit. and maintaining a true sense of self and purpose.

I personally, am not giving up something as rediculous as sex to be thin. Another spin to put on it would be, instead of giving something up...why don't we give something to our bodies that our bodies are starving for such as:

. Self - Love

. Positive Self Talk

. Sexy, soothin bath and body products that keep our skin soft and supple and our bodies smelling

yummy and delicious

. Exercise

. Meditation

. A dynamic dance class

. A girls night out on the town

. Human touch: massage, facial, manicure, pedicure AND

. Shoes (lol)

intimacy with your partner can make you feel sexy and can make you feel better. And yet, when women aren't feeling good about that muffin top, or extra junk in the trunk and cellulite on their thighs and buttocks, WE don't feel sexy, so we don't want to have sex. So it's this really tough self-fulfilling prophecy. So we have to figure out where to break it and what needs to break, and women need to figure out how to have MOST of what they want.

I actually know women...married women, who refuse to make love to their husbands with the lights on. Some of them actually where t-shirts or some sort of pajama top or bottom on during this act of making an intimate connection.

I would suggest you do something about it. Start with stripping down and getting honest with yourself. Let us STOP making excuses and put in the hard work, the mental, emotional, SPIRITUAL and physical work. Sexy takes work and aren't WE worth it. Staying and getting healthy are action words.

Love and respect ourselves enough to put self first and get it Right and keep it Tight!

Where are ALL the good men and the good Food?

This weekend, I had the pleasure of setting up my massage table at a hip and trendy barbershop/hair salon in the Valley. I worked on the bodies of men. Yes, you heard me right. These were men ranging in age from 15-43. There's something to be said about what happens when you get a person on a massage table.They become Human. They become Vulnerable. They relax, let go and allow themselves to experience the Big "P" word. get your mind out of the gutter. Pampering...they allow themselves to be Pampered and actually admit they want and need to be pampered.

I like to equate some aspects of a quality man with that of quality food. Organic foods are those that are produced using environmentally sound methods that do not involve modern synthetic inputs such as pesticides and chemical fertilizers, do not contain genetically modified organisms, and are not processed using irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives. Like Organic products that typically cost 10 to 40% more than similar conventionally produced products, organic men typically are not easy to find and they require more of an effort to peel back the layers to get to the good part.

I believe a REAL, authentic and genuine Man with an organic sense of self and style will resemble, in a non-literal way ofcourse, that of organic, yummy, good to you and good for you foods. We all know you can't find organic products at your neighborhood five and dime or mom and pop convenient store. You also won't find a quality man hangin on the corner, pants saggin past his butt, talkin about "wassup shawty."

I worked on a 43-year old man that shared with me that when he comes home from working a 10-hour shift, he would love for his woman to rub his feet with some of that Scentsational Soaps peppermint foot butter that I rubbed on his feet. He said, "Yeah, mens like they feet and hands rubbed to." "You women are onto something with all this pampering." He then proceeded to tell every other man who was in the salon that they better come on over and get some of this pamperin.

My point is, let us begin to think outside of the box and outside of the traditional grocery store setting for quality organic foods; same as we might think outside of the traditional setting we've come accustomed to in search of a quality organic man. Fierce, Fabulous and Fly; while you're gettin your Spiritual House in Order Today in 2011

Women...ladies...my sistahs take notice. This is OUR time. I don't know about you, but I've been paying attention to the ladies in L.A. for the past five years and I've witnessesed temendous growth in our Star power, our Networking power, our support power and our goin after it and gettin our Spiritual House in Order Today power. The sistahs (of varying shades and ethnicities) are doin it Big and Sexxy in this City!

Yesterday, my business associate and my personal walking billboard, Mrs. Scentsational soaps, her V.P Charles and I were privy to be amongst the elite in business for themselves persons at this year's grammy gifting suite. Now... if you think, for a minute, this is a brag move - I'm goin to need you to open your mind, your ears and your heart, because only small minded people would take this public declaration of gratitude as that of bragging. glad we got that out of the way. lol

The suite was filled with power players. The room was full of primarily, female business owners, entrepreneurs, and sistahs makin it happen against many odds. The killer part was these sistahs were not only savvy, but they were kind, genuine, supportive and loving. We were in awe of their products, presentation to their salesmanship and the swag in their swag bags. There was soo much beauty in that space, it was almost intoxicating. gorgeous men and beautiful men distracted me to the point that I wore my 3-hour heels for the entire 9 hours we were there. Let me paint this picture for you:

There was Jasmine Frank of Jazzy cakes. This sistah has homemade yummy, delicious home made baked goods worth giving yourself a cheat day. Then we happened upon this statuesque cocoa brown skinned sistah who is the president of Supernova PR - Ms. June Johnson. Not to mention the health conscious vegan lettuce wraps from Ladies Touch- Ewanda Jackson. Who knew lettuce and chopped veggies, a spritz of lime with a drizzle of ranch dressing could taste soo good. These women not only serviced and networked with every celebrity, their assistant and stylists, to other business owners in the suite. See....we were much more than vendors. As a matter of fact, there was NO vending going on. We, as a collective, were powerful, positive and huber confident women and men converged upon Siren studios to introduce to the world of Entertainment our much needed products and services. We, Charles, Toushounta and myself, are looking forward to rockin our matching Rockstar t-shirt's by XZavier. And no, we won't be wearing them at the same time. Toushonta copied my taste. lol. Thank you to the Latina sistah who hooked us up. We want to give it up to Exclusives Hair Studio who were doin big and beautiful things in that corner suite (Owner Twain and sylist Shanan)

The take away from that event was the importance of US, women, to continue to forge longlasting business relationships with one another. Let us continue to find ways to support one another. Let us continue to make it important to encourage one another. Let US continue to put our best foot forward. If you're in the health, beauty, fitness industry, i.e. (hair stylist, hair restoration, massage, bath & beauty products, lashes, party promotions, catering, nails) be your best walking commercial. Look, act and deliver the part. There is nothing juicier than doing business with someone who you can feel loves what they do, looks like they love it and is presenting their BEST self to me. I love it. I eat it up. Mostly...people are buying you before they buy your product or service. Make the extra effort to pamper yourself, get healthy and in shape, strengthen your constitution. The better you Look and feel, the better your social and professional life becomes. I'm not speaking of surface beauty. I'm speaking of doing that beauty work from the inside out. Statistically, people who are fit with a pleasing appearance, excel over those who are not. Companies are less likely to take a gamble on someone who is over weight than a fit and healthy person; as they assume you will call out more often and use your medical benefits more than a thin and fit person.

As some of you embark upon the NBA All Star activities in the upcoming week, let us be mindful of goin out there and gettin it. No Fear! No Excuses. To get yours, means you have to take nothing from someone else. Trust and believe, there is MORE than enough for ALL of us. In remembering that, let us make a more impactful determination to get our (Spiritual House In Order TODAY) in 2011.

Follow the Leader.......

Do you remember as a child how we use to play "Follow the Leader" or better yet do you remember when in school as a child we had to follow the leader in line? I too can recall how everyone wanted to be the leader of the line as this was exciting!!! For most, I'm sure those days have changed as we have decided to BE the LEADER throughout our lives. Is that right? I sure hope that you said "YES"

However, if you said "NO" what's stopping you from being a LEADER? when you have everyting that you need to make it happen! It's important not to discount who we are or let our self esteem get in the way of opportunities. BE BOLD! THINK BIG! BE A LEADER! For the longest, I too was very unsure of many things that held me back from moving to the next level. Boy, was I wrong! Surprisingly at the conference we were given a powerful book entitled: "Use What you Have to Get What you Want" by Jack Nadel It is such an easy read with powerful information in it! I encourage you to buy it and dive in!

Just this past weekend, I attended a AWESOME conference; "Tory Johnson's Spark & Hustle" This conference was full of Leaders! Women who decided to change their circumstances!!!! We are ALL leaders, but we have to "Believe" just that and take charge! If you're a Parent, you are a LEADER, if you are an Aunt, you are a LEADER, and the list can go on and on.

Look in the mirror everyday and tell yourself that you are a LEADER & take charge! Believe in "YOU" and let's Make things Happen! Make sure to let us know what major moves or steps that you took that you didn't think was possible!

Had someone told me, when I was in my 20's, that I'd have more energy, an insatiable appetite for success, more drive and ambition and this earth shaking hunger to be, do and have better at this age - I would've said you are lyin and bet money on it that they were wrong. And of course...I would've lost twice. And I don't like to lose.

NOW, truly is, the time to get your S.H.I_! (Spiritual House in order TODAY! Not tomorrow. Not yesterday, but today. I have the pleasure to interact with people of differing cultures and ethnicity's on a daily basis. Many who consider themselves to be religious and/or spiritual. These are people who speak of faith in theory; however, aren't really applying faith, as a practice, into their daily life. I had several conversations just this week, with two persons who said, "Oh, I have faith." and, "Oh! I live, walk and talk by faith." Uh huh! However, I find a lot of these people are hypocrites. If they were truly a man or woman of faith, they would not be in a constant state of worry, doubt, panic and fear. All of these things are the opposite of what faith is. Faith means believing, without tangible evidence, that all the things you desire and need will be there for you right in time. It's the Universal law.

What would life feel like if we tested our faith by believing without seeing. Ya'll don't hear me. lol. Faith is that which you cannot see, hear, taste or sometimes explain, but you believe, at the core of your being that you can be, do and allow all the things you want for yourself and family. I had faith that if I, Fee King, believed that I would attract the kind of people I wanted to have in my life, that the Universe would align itself in such a way, that these people would be attracted to me and I to them. Voila! They are here in a grander and more impactful way than I could have ever imagined. Each and everyone of them are assisting and Supporting me along my journey to my spiritual, familial, health and financial Success story.

If WE have people, things and situations in our lives that are hindering us from gettin' it...it's our own fault and responsibility. My motto is: When I say NO to you...I'm saying yes to me. Yes to my sanity, peace, tranquility. Yes to my Success barometer. I want my ladies to get and keep your S.H.I_! in 2011. I want my ladies, men and children to start loving themselves even more to get out of life what you put into it. If it's more love you're desiring, that means you have to be willing and brave enough to express more love. I know! I know it's not easy. If it were easy, everyone would be loving, right. I'm still a work in progress in that area too. lol

Speaking of love and faith, I read a story on yahoo news this past week about an African-American man, who was sentenced to life in prison at the age of 14 for the crime of rape and murder. He was later found to be wrongly accused and incarcerated for this crime. However, his records with his DNA results, had been lost for nearly 38 years before they were found and he was released from prison. This man obviously has a grand capacity of love and faith. Because of his faith in himself and his god, he NEVER gave up. This man grew up and literally became a man while in prison. While incarcerated, he taught himself to read. He now speaks and shares his success story with inner city youth; where he instills in them the importance of educating and believing in oneself no matter how grim the road ahead looks. Additionally, he shared with the young people how books were his means of escaping his 3 by 5 physical environment. Via the books he read, he visited some of the World's most remote and exotic places; such as: Africa, Europe and Islands. We're only limited by our capacity to think, dream and believe. Let us renew our Faith.

I might be dating myself with this quote. I remember hearing this quote recited by my mother, my mother's girlfriends, my grandmother, aunts and my female cousins, etc. Their interpretation and my understanding of this quote meant if we didn't find a man/mate what we loved, settle for the one who loved us. The notion of settling, never settled well with me. I've now put my own little spin on this quote. Tell me what you think of it. "If you can't be with the one you love...love the one you're with - You. That's right...Love yourself. Once we learn to truly and authentically love ourselves with all of our swag, sway of our hips and fullness of our lips, our isms, quirks, imperfections and flaws and those nagging recurring body issues,trust and believe our mate is soon to follow.

Yesterday- January 30th, 2011, was another life changing moment for me. No..it was more than a moment. It was monumental. It was yummy and delicious in all of it's monumentalness. Yes, I know that's not a word; however, I sometimes like to take my own liberties with words. Yesterday, I had the great pleasure of meeting, having and exchange of ideas, networking, laughing, catching up, reminiscing and performing body work on some of the most incredible, kind-hearted, loving, emotionally available and sincere women I think I've ever met. Being a body work specialist (Massage therapist) affords me the opportunity to have a direct exchange of energies with people of varied ethnicity's, backgrounds, socio-economic status, fitness levels and religious beliefs. These are the type of women who are drawn to MaKresha's monthly Journey Spa parties. These were women, in spite of their finances, transportation, fitness levels, the mental space they were in or obstacles happening in their lives,showed up and showed out. They were present from the time they arrived until the time they left. Collectively and individually,we shared our pain, struggles that we face daily being the amazing women of color, being mothers, some of us single mothers to children with real life challenges, entrepreneurs,wives, sisters and daughters. We learned that everything WE need in life, we already have and already are. Additionally, we examined our needs, wants and desires, whether it was in a group setting or in an intimate conversation between a massage therapist and her sistah in the spirit.

I believe each and every one of us took away the need to continue and/or start to Love ourselves at the very core of our being. And in loving ourselves, that means NOT waiting for someone to treat us well. This means treating ourselves to that much needed manicure and pedicure. This means getting our hair done, spending time with those we love and enjoy, buying ourselves that dress or pair of shoes you soo earnestly deserve, to honoring your body by taking care of the ONLY one that has soo lovingly been given you.

My motto is: "get it Right and Keep it Tight." get your mind right in order to keep your body Tight.

IF It Aint Broke...You better FIX IT!

I'm a huge movie buff. I love the movies. Movies are my escape and I like to escape often; as it relaxes me. It calms me and it reminds me that ALL things are possible. Additionally, movies give us permission to dream and dream Big and out loud.

I went to see the new movie starring Ryan gosling and Michelle Williams, "Blue Valentine." The movie was about a couple who had basically outgrown the other and the one who was outgrown didn't receive the memo. Brilliant acting, powerful message, rolled up pure simplicity. There was no grand special effects, explicit sex scenes or any of the typical distractions from bad acting. There was just a story that we can all relate to. The movie was just that...it was simple, pure and painfully honest. It was art imitating life.

Here you had a couple who fell madly in love because they both were able to provide the other with what they needed; which in a nutshell was love and acceptance. Somewhere during the course of their relationship, one began to grow and their desires, dreams and needs grew along with them. The other, not recognizing that if you're not paying attention, you could stand to be outgrown by the person who vowed to love you till death do you both part. The person, not paying attention, believed there were no obvious breaks in the relationship; therefore, he or she treated the relationship like a car put in cruise control. They were coasting through the relationship without feeding it spontaneity, an intense workout (if you know what I mean), on a regular basis, attention, affection, kind words, patience coupled with a drive down the Coast to Santa Barbara or even Las Vegas. This relationship needed a new set of spark plugs; otherwise, it was destined to putter. And putter out it did.

The way we relate or don't relate to our bodies; is similar to the way we deal with relationships, both intimate and platonic ones. You have to feed your body with vitamins, trace minerals, kind and affirming words, positivity, nutritious foods, LOVE, exercise, adventure, alkeline water and then another dose of Love. If we're not tending to this remarkable gift...this one and only temple of life, the body will send us reminders that we've been neglecting it. Much like relationships, let us not wait until there is a problem, situation or the chance to be outgrown before we nurture, love, pay attention to and cherish our bodies the way we ought to cherish our relationships, both intimate and platonic .

Ain't No Stopp'n Us Now!

"Aint No Stoppin Us Now," BY: McFadden and Whitehead and "Lose Yourself" BY: M & M are by far my favorite inspirational anthems. My favorite line in M's song is: Failure is NOT an option. I'm always amazed at who and what I'm inspired by. I'm even more amazed at the times in my life when that source of inspiration kicks in. It seems to happen for me when I need it the most; which is daily.

Last year, I created a Santa Monica Stairs Meet up group; which meets every Sunday at the stairs in Santa Monica (4th & San Vicente) to run/walk the stairs. The first time I went, I walk/jogged up those stairs (10) times; which was a huge accomplishment for me. I eventually built my stamina and endurance up to walk/jog and even sprint up those stairs (25) times. Those stairs are the absolute best lower body workout. They hit you right where we women need it, in our glutes, hamstrings, calves and quads. Not to mention, it's a phenomenal test of your stamina and endurance. The best part; however, is being outdoors breathing in fresh air and every now and again standing at the top of those wooden steps and looking West at the Pacific Ocean. It's a spiritual high for me. IT is my church.

Last Sunday was my first time there in nearly (5) weeks and I felt it. I was unable to jog up the stairs. Seriously...by the time I made it to the top on my first walk up, I thought I was going to pass all the way out. Not half way out, but pass ALL the way, totally and completely out. I found myself stopping....I NEVER stop. By the time I made it to the the second landing, with hands on my hips, to catch my breath, I realized I needed to tap into my reservoir of inspiration. See...I didn't want to pass out in front of random people and wake up to some sweaty, strange man performing mouth-to-mouth on me; so I slowed my tail down. For an instant, I looked down at the stairs I managed to barely climb up and thought about walking back down to the bottom. Then the song, by M & M came on in my head: "Lose yourself." I then reminded myself of who I was. It didn't matter how long it took me to get up those stairs or how fast or how many I was able to complete that day. All that mattered was that I didn't allow failure to be an option. Those stairs are symbolic of the obstacles and challenges we face in our lives. If I can make it to the top...I"ll be okay. If I make it to the top, I can see another day. If we're NOT winning at our lives, then we're NOT truly living our lives.

Some people actually think, because I'm a trainer, that I'm good at everything physical. Obviously those people are not my mother, sister and Duchess. I'm not good at a lot of things physical. I'm just relentless. I let nothing, including myself, and no one stop me.

Today, Sunday, January 16th, 2011 - I, Fee King, was scheduled to run my first half marathon. Now listen...I am NOT a runner. I ran track; however, distance running was not my specialty. However, I agreed to run this half marathon with my meet up groups co-host, Tammy Belay, to help me for the marathon I'm running in March. The race started at 7:00 a.m. and I woke up at 6:40 a.m. I was upset with myself for all of 1 minute when I realized, I still had to work on some self-sabotaging issues that I have. I was not prepared in the least bit from the lack of sleep I've been experiencing, to not having the proper dry-fit clothing, down to needing another pair of running shoes that offered more support than the brand new running shoes I just bought that set me back $100. So, what did I do you ask? I let go of the useless emotion: guilt. I stayed in action. Instead of going back to sleep for some much needed rest, I drove myself to the beach and set a specific and focused goal. I reminded myself of the lyric in McFadden & Whitehead's song and told myself that there was NO stopping me now; except me. Running the half marathon was to be a first for me. Since that didn't happen, I decided to set another first; which was to run, non-stop for a minimum of 1-hour along the beach. After (20) minutes of running, I was ready to walk/jog, but there was No stopping me now. After (22) minutes, I saw no harm in walk/jogging the rest of this hour; however, I kept going. At the (35) minute mark, I started to get bored and was really ready to walk; but I didn't. I ran for a total of 61-minutes. As my body slowed to an abrupt stop after that hour, it felt as if my thick thighs were going to collapse from up under me...but they didn't. We're only as good and capable as we believe we are. I didn't know how I would run for an hour; all I knew is it was important to me and for me to push through the pain. I figure if my mother could endure labor pains to push me out into this world, surely I could endure a little muscle fatigue, uncomfortableness and heavy breathing that would not only change and improve my body, but more importantly change and improve my mind, my determination and my focus.

So, the next time you think about stopping, quitting or giving up on yourself, I implore you to think of those two songs to help you get through it and to i: "Aint No Stoppin us Now" and ""Lose Yourself". After all...WE have to get our Spritiual House in Order Today, in 2011, right?

We've all heard the old adage, "If we plan to fail...we Fail to plan." December 31, 2010, my friends and I wrote, individually, on a piece of paper divided into halves all the things we were DETERMINED to be...do...and allow in 2011. On the other half of the paper, we wrote ALL the things we were DETERMINED to leave behind in 2010. Our DETERMINATION was solidified by a collective spirit, our truths, specificity, friendship and a desire to NOT allow anyone or anything to defeat us. And then we burned both halves. The Universe now knows what we know and will act accordingly on our behalf.

As a woman, an entrepreneur, a sister, daughter, girl-friend, lover and best friend, I am a testament to how life can get in the way if we, as women, aren't specific with our Focus and Determination. I'm going to share two out of my ten determinations for 2011 with the hopes of helping you either jump start or reignite yours...just incase your New Year is starting out a little slower than you were anticipating. Here goes:

I, Fee King, am determined to LOVE earnestly and without expectation and attachments.

. I, Fee King, am determined to train my mind and Body with specificity, determination and a clear end in mind.

See, herein lies the difference in training and working out. Working out is when you show up at the gym with NO game plan. It's when you show up at the gym, park, that aerobics, kickboxing, tai-bo or tai-booty class with no end in mind. When I say, no end in mind, I'm referring to a specific goal of how you want to look, think and feel after 30, 60, 90 and 120 days. After all, why are you there? What are you expecting to accomplish? Or, are you hoping to achieve some magical result just because you showed up and walked on the treadmill? I hate to bust your bubble, but IT... life, doesn't happen that way.

Training is when you're specific, clear, focused and Determined to make a change in yourself. It's when you know why you're there. It's when you know how long you need to be there to accomplish said goal. Training is knowing you are NOT going to reach that accomplished goal solely with the physical aspect of training. Training is doing the work, from the inside out to make the changes you desire. Training is doing your homework. Training is consulting or hiring an expert. Training is knowing every successful person, i.e. Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Serena Williams, has or has had a coach and/or mentor to help them excel in their respective sport. Training is saying, I _________ am going to accomplish my goal of ________by this date and working feverishly to do just that. That is the difference in training and working out. You decide where you want to be and the best and most effective way to get there. Ladies...get specific, focused and Determined!

Ladies, I want you to write it down, review it daily and post it in a place where you can see it everyday. I want updates. So, let me know what (2) things you are determined to make happen for yourself in 2011?

Soak It up!!!!

Well, our first week into the New Year is almost to an end. Now that the Holidays are over and the reality of work is back in full swing, our feet needs some special attention. They work hard for us everyday and they deserve to be pampered! We decided to provide you with a basic recipe for a Pineapple Foot Soak for those tired Soles:

Items Needed:
*Basin Big enough to hold your feet and deep enough to fill ankle height
*Find a comfortable place to sit and spread a towel where basin will go

Pineapple contains Enzyme which breaks down dead skin cells. This soak is effective when followed with our Salt Scubs HERE

Warm tap water
2 cups Pineapple juice

Pour the juice into the basin then add enough warm water to fill the basin about halfway. Soak your feet for 5-10 minutes. Follow with our Salt glow HERE and Foot Butters HERE and enjoy Fancy Feet!

A New Beginning.....

We have less than 24 hours before the NEW YEAR begins! It's exciting to know that we can start off fresh, whole and New again. Since the birth of Scentsational Soaps, we always set goals to have a clear vision of where we're going. Goals are so important in both your business and personal lives. I would hope that we all want to be better individuals and welcome the possibility of making a change to achieve that goal. We can never be perfect, but what we can do is make an effort to be just a lil bit better than what we were the year before.

2010 was a year of many accomplishments for Scentsational Soaps. Our products are in the Topanga Mall in Canoga Park, CA (GREENBODEE) We delivered products to BET for the celebrities of "Black Girls Rock" event, we've recruited several new consultants whom we adore, we've introduced our NEW cold process soaps to consumers, we've expanded our network by meeting some great NEW people, we joined a networking organization, and the list could go on and on. So now, the question is, "What goals do we have set for 2011?" Our answer, "MANY"

2011, is a year set for GREATNESS! There can be nothing less. Here's a list of the few goals that we want to achieve in 2011.

1. Introduce our products to more boutique, spas, etc.
2. Purchase Bar Codes
3. Introduce a minimum of 3 new products
4. Expand our network
5. Expand our marketing
6. Upgrade our website
7. Introduce Scentsational Soaps across the states
7. AND MUCH, MUCH, MORE.....

Our list can continue forever! Make goal setting FUN and be realistic about it. Don't set the bar too high for yourself, or you'll give up easily. Last but not least write your goals down or create a vision board for yourself. Cut out things from newspapers and magazines, that represent the things that you want to achieve for 2011. Let us know, what are your goals for 2011?

In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, drinking water is essential to the body. However, there are those, who refuse to drink water due to its taste. Below is a recipe for a lightly flavored water that makes it easy to drink your 8 glasses a day. This is great to drink to re-hydrate yourself after a relaxing spa treatment.

1 cucumber
1/2 lemon
water

1- Peel & slice the cucmber and put in a bog pitcher
2 - Slice the lemon into rounds and add them to the pitcher as well
3 - Fill the pitcher with water and let chil for at least an hour

Fall Skin Tips

After a long week of work, why not release some of that built in stress with a nice soak in tub surrounded by music, candles and alongside a nice glass of wine...you deserve it! Bring the spa to your home with a "Ginger Milk Bath." Milk baths are a luxurious way to pamper yourself on a budget. They soften and moisturize your skin, it also helps break down dead skin cells. Ginger has a spicy earthy scent and it has been used as an aphrodisiac for its entire known existence. This bath will make you feel soft and sexy.

1 teaspoon ginger essential oil (or use honey instead)
1 1/2 cups powdered milk
1 1/2 cups hot water
Full bathtub

Whisk the powdered milk and hot water together. Stir in the ginger (or stir in honey instead)

Run the bath water.

While the tub is filling pour the milk mixture into the running water.

Make yourself comfortable and enjoy.

Realizing Your Blessings.......

After coming home last night from VBS (Vacation Bible School), my doorbell ranged. There was my friend whom I had known all of my life standing on the other side of the door with his son. I let him in to find out that he had no place to go. He had no money, no car, and his health was not the best....he had just underwent a major heart surgery about a month ago. His life had been turned upside down! and his son was confused, nervous, and unstable. My husband and I allowed him to stay the night. I was both heartbroken and grateful for my life as I stood listening to his story. I had no room for complaints! My complaints were nowhere near what he was going thru! I've always been grateful, but because we had been teaching on being of service to our family, friends, neighbors and community...I knew that I was being faced with a test. Many of us, don't realize our blessings. To us our blessings may seem small, but to others, they are enormous!!! I realize that we are all faced with some challenging issues in todays economy, but if you have the necessities of everyday living which include food, shelter and clothing, then you are blessed. Let's not discount those things that we take for granted with complaints and negativity, but let us be grateful for the things that we do have TODAY!!!

Follow your Passion

This week has been a very HARD week for most of us! The death of Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and finally Michael Jackson was one of many surprises! It let's us all know that life is precious, fragile and beautiful! It is so important that we cherish the day, and time of all of our loved ones. A simple call to say "I Love You," or a gentle gesture can all make a difference in each other lives. We've all heard the saying "Here today, gone tomorrow," but have we really taken notice of how true this really is. Arguing, fighting, cursing, lying, and stealing from one another does NOTHING....but being respectful of one another and working things out in a civilized way can go WAY further life!

There is so much to take in this year and we have only just begun. For most, 2008, was a horrible year...a year that we don't want to revisit. Scentsational Soaps 1st SPA PARTY!!

After much thought on whether or not, Scentsational Soaps was ready to take yet another leap of faith and include "Spa Parties" in my already ever-so busy world, my decision had finally anchored. On Saturday, May 17, 2008 Scentsational Soaps, had its 1st Spa Party and BOY!! was it fun. Thanks to my supportive family and friends, we were able to chat, snack, and relax all while trying Scentsational Soaps wonderful products. I made a fresh face mask with fruit and a toner for my attendees, after they had sat under a facial steamer for about 10 minutes. It was devine! My pedicure lovers had the opportunity to soak their feet in water with bath salts, rose petals, and a cocoa butter bath melt. Afterwards, they were able to use our foot scrub and foot butter to moisturize their tired soles.

The music definitely set the mood. We listened to jazz, the ocean waves, chimes, etc. to take our minds away from all the stress of life. My friend, was given a slice of our SOAPCAKE for her birthday and was definitely surprised. I even surprised myself on making it! It came out great, as you can see! To end our afternoon, each guest left with a handmade bar of soap and a wonderful sample of body butter. The afternoon turned out better than I had planned and Scentsational Soaps was even asked to have another SPA PARTY for my teen counsins birthday. From Hopeless to Hopeful

About a couple of weeks ago, my long time friend called and asked me if I were available to speak at a Career Fair in Juvenile Hall. Without no hesitation, I immediately said "Yes." Finally, the day came for me to make my voice heard to our children about how "Scentsational Soaps" was started as well as how they could start their own business based upon a driven passion from deep within. I was assigned to speak to four classes, each hour. As I spoke to each class, I could see in their eyes that what had seemed like a hopeless situtation soon turned into a dream that could still be fulfilled. Hope was not gone, rather deposited back into their spirits that "it's not where we start, it's where we end."

Many of us, who are on the outside (physically FREE), are still held in bondage. We're fighting with ourselves on issues that may have happened last week, last month or even last year that we still want to HOLD onto. The fight within, is an emotional battle that destroys our motivation to move forward. We become stagnate, depressed, and unsure of who we are, and what we are capable of doing. Release yourself, let GO of old things and start FRESH today! Forgive yourself, and those who you felt, did you wrong. Let it GO, so that others will see you spread your wings and soar like an eagle.

Opened Doors

I first want to apologize for not blogging as much as I have been, however, I have GREAT NEWS that will make up for it as well as a give-away just because I'm feeling so great at the end of this blog.

This pass Thursday, I received a call from a PR firm asking if Scentsational Soaps , LLC could participate in a celebrity event taking place before the BET awards on June 22, 2008. They would like to put Scentsational Soaps, LLC products in 150 celebrity bags and 50 more products for the media bags. I am soooooooo EXCITED!! ......and even more excited because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity! Later that same evening, I received an email from a store who is interested having my products at their location. So, as you can see Thursday was definitely a GREAT DAY!!

I'm still on cloud nine right now because I would have never imagined that things of this caliber would ever exist for Scentsational Soaps, LLC. I remember, when I first started this business, I was so afraid that if my business grew really FAST that I wouldn't be ready for it, but I have come to realize that I must embrace what has been given to me and remember that if it was appointed to me, that just means that it's already taken care of!

It's important that we take that first leap of FAITH and do not be afraid of what we have, what we don't have and how we are going to get it. If we all step out of our comfort zones, don't you know that you will be able to go higher heights and places that you have never been before than you could ever imagine? Look at me, I'm a prime example!

Whoever says that you can't, is just trying to stop you, because they know that YOU REALLY CAN! SO with all of this said....... KEEP IT PUSHING!!

Minding My Business

Today, I feel very great about myself...I mean, I always do, but today, I was able to get alot accomplished even with the kids being home for Spring break! Having a productive day is always a good thing and having it while the kids are home is AWESOME!! I managed to do some marketing with new businesses, fill orders and do a little spring cleaning in my closet. I also managed to cook a delicious meal, and teach my little ones new math concepts. I feel GREAT! When you are minding your business, you get alot accomplished, whereas, when you get into someone else's business your business is always left undone. So let's try minding our own business for a change before we get in the business of others.

Healthy Eating

In todays fast paced world, everyone is in a hurry to do nothing! No one has time to cook a good meal nor does anyone have time to exercise. Eating healthy and exercising daily should be apart of everyones regime. However, with fast food chains, overworked individuals and microwaved foods, most of us don't want to think about cooking a healthy meal let alone shopping for the ingredients after a hard day of work. Simple recipes usually always work best when your time is very limited. There's a majority of simple recipes that are even healthy for you, just like the one that I will be sharing below.

Baked Salmon with Rainbow Peppers

4 sheets of Heavy Aluminum (12 x 18 inches each)

4 Salmon fillets (4 to 6 ounces each)

4 medium red, yellow, or green bell peppers cut into strips

1/4 cup butter or margarine, cut into pieces

2 teaspoons of dried basil

Preheat oven to 450 degrees or grill to medium high. Center one salmon fillet on each sheet of aluminum. Arrange pepper strips around salmon. Top with butter and sprinkle with basil. Bring up foil sides. Double foil top and ends to seal packet, leaving room for heat circulation inside. Repeat to make four packets. Bake 18 to 20 minutes in oven or grill 16 to 18 minutes in covered grill. Makes 8 servings

Add a tossed salad and WALA! you have a complete meal!

Ok...so today was a very busy day. Full of work, work, and more work! Dropping the kids off to school, picking them up, helping with homework and all in between answering phone calls, emails, and whatever other questions may come my way. Oh..did I mention that still have to make products? Yes, my days are never a walk in the park, there's always something to do.

However, in all honesty, I'm happy that work is not really work but a found passion that I LOVE!! My business teaches me lessons everyday and let's me learn from each of them. Today, I learned to always be prepared, because you just never know when OPRAH may call and ask you for 1000 body butter samples!

Are You Living or Existing?

Have you ever asked yourself the question, am I living or am I existing? This question came about during a leadership workshop that I attended just last weekend....and it made me think. Am I living or am I existing?

Each day that we wake up, we are programmed to do the same routine without even thinking. Wake up, go to the restroom, brush our teeth, take a shower and head off to work. Some things at work maybe a little different, but for the most part its usually the same. If nothing never changes in your day, week, month or years, then you're living the life of existence and not living a life of fullfillment!

Have you ever taken the time to watch kids as they play? If you notice, children live life to the fullest without a care in the world. They are full of energy, laughs, fun and play. They are motivated by being able to do new things each day as they grow and inquisitive as to how things operate. Living to them is beautiful, rich, rewarding, everlasting, motivating, and FREE! Living is not something that stops as we get older but rather begins as we become more wiser.

Existing, on the other hand is the complete opposite of living and is just as DEAD as it sounds. We were NOT put on this earth to exist! We were put here because we have a purpose that we must fullfill. Do more, give more, help more, save more, love more....whatever your purpose is DO IT TODAY!!! and then afterwards ask yourself am I Living or Existing!

Family...The Love of My LIFE!

I couldn't imagine life without family. And for those, who don't value family, you sure don't know what you're missing out on! My family has always been very close to one another. Always lending a helping hand to people within the family and outside of the family. Our doors are forever swinging open taking in people who don't have family and just want to be around a loving family or for those who just want simple words of encouragement. Without the help and support of my family, I often wonder, where would I be today?

My husband is always supportive and my mom is a TROJAN!!! My brothers who sometimes get on my nerves are irreplaceable, without them I probably wouldn't smile as often as I do when I'm around them. They are both funny, different and comical. Lastly, my two kids are the world to me and they give me strength each day. Different? Yes, they definitely are and SMART? I'm sorry did I say SMART? Yes, SMART? They are too smart. I'm sometimes amazed at the questions that they ask me from day to day! And with this all said, I wouldn't trade any of them for NOTHING in the world.

It's going to be great in 2008! Being that this was Scentsational Soaps first 6 months in business, I must say that it wasn't bad at all! Of course with any business, it has its ups and it definitely has its downs. However, with faith and my valuable customers I can push through it! We thank our beautiful customers for showing us so much love, words of encouragement and much excitement!! You guys are the best.
